Shibori Mugs - set of 2
The "Shibori Mugs" consists of two adorable sized mugs. This set of two mugs is unique in that the glazing technique used is similar to the way shibori fabric is dyed.
The unique, and non-reproducible pattern is achieved through using cotton as a resist.
These mugs are created by hand on the potters wheel. The clay utilized, originates from an Alberta clay company.
Creating mugs involves several steps. First the mugs are made ("thrown") on the potters wheel. Next the mugs are left to dry, followed by the a refining of the edges, and application of the handles. The mugs then goes into the kiln for their first firing. After being fired, they are then glazed by hand. The mugs then return to the kiln for a second firing, where the glaze melts, creating a smooth glassy surface on the clay. From start to finish, the process occurs over a span of weeks.
This set of two mugs is shipped free within Canada, via Canada Post.
